This is a project exploring the Finnish wondrous viili-culture. This will be an ongoing research that I initiated for the The Halikonlahti Green Art Trilogy “FOOD CHAINS” in Salo Artmuseum Roundhouse, Finland in 2011. In this project I am trying to find ways mapping of this fascinating culture that has deep roots and a long history in Finland but where the commercial product has replaced the once ubiquitous knowledge about this culture. My desire is to revive the old culture and hopefully find an original viiliculture still being cultivated somewhere in Finland. In the project I will collect stories and search for viili culture, make viili and share the culture and give a public talk. The stories and reflections that will be gathered on the wall during the exhibition will be posted here for public viewing. This is a collective work so contributions from the public are welcome in form of stories, pictures or anything else of relevance so please feel free to contribute – even after the exhibition is over.
